Since forming cornfield dance in 1989, Ellen Cornfield has created over thirty works. She has taught and performed with her company at theaters, outdoor locations, and festivals worldwide; in Japan, England, Holland, Germany, France, Poland, Russia, and the United States. She has been produced at Playhouse 91 and the Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church in NYC, Jacob's Pillow and The Yard in Massachusetts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Place Theater in London, Theater X and Session House in Japan, the International Dance Festival in Bytom, Poland, at the C. Munch Theatre in Paris, and the OPEN LOOK Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The Company has received commissions from the 92nd Street Y New Works in Dance Fund, the Danspace Project, The Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival, Russell Sage College NY, Montclair State University, Dartmouth College, and Hofstra University. The company has been funded by Fête de la Musique, the Howl Festival, and the Buskers Fare, in addition to the Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival. Cornfield has been supported by the Pentacle Help Desk, the Asian Cultural Council, the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust, The Joyce Mertz Gilmore Foundation, Meet the Composer, the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, The Harkness Foundation for Dance, the American Express Company, and the Sidney Stern Memorial Trust.
